About Peter Jacobson
Each piece, whether a bowl, hollow form, vase or other vessel must meet a design aesthetic that makes it visually pleasing, satisfying to hold, and complementing the unique features of the piece of wood. Because wood is an imperfect medium, there are both challenges and opportunities in every piece. I find it exciting to cut into a log and discover the grain patterns, the unique figure, and features such as spalting, bark inclusions or knot holes. The time I spend with each blank to understand the features and imperfections in the wood allows me to incorporate these elements into the design of the piece.
