Nicholas Barnes

Beginning with wood collected off my Appalachian home, I create wood turned vessels. I then inlay small pieces of metal-wrapped woods into that form in a technique I term Wood Cloisonné. In the creation of my work, I concern myself with color, shape, and edge to combine my vision with natural materials. Through the inlay I can achieve a look that neither nature, nor I, could create on their own.
