About Kate Dannenberg
I am an artist living and working in South Philadelphia, where I make jewelry and objects by hand from recycled or responsibly sourced materials with thoughtful attention to craft and tactility. My work is highly functional and is intended to be held, touched, used felt, and worn. Through my work I explore convergent evolution, the process by which unrelated species develop similar traits. I see this reflected in the process of making, the way different methods of working can yield similar results. The tactility of my work is driven by my interest in how humans interact with cherished belongings and jewelry; fidgeting with jewelry, carrying good luck charms, telling our stories through heirlooms.
