About Jennifer Chin
My delicately industrial jewelry is inspired by an affinity for machine components, kinetic movement and the beautiful natural patterns occurring in nature. Using mostly silver, gold and occasionally gemstones, I create delicately linked geometric patterns and organic imagery like bird wings, flowers and leaves. Kinetic movement plays a role in the designs, concentric circles spinning inside hexagons or a stairway of silver folding like a puzzle. I am attracted to contradictory themes- hard vs. soft, dark vs. bright, feminine vs. rough. My metal working techniques include forging, embossing, intricate soldering, fabrication and stone setting.
