About Teresa Audet

I create semi-functional sculptural objects using a combination of wood and rattan reed. Through color, texture, and form, I explore the concepts of play and resilience. My work is process-driven; the act of twining reeds and carving wood serve as a practice of mindfulness. To make my boxes, I cut dozens of wedge-shaped pieces of wood, fit and stack them together like bricks, then carve the outside smooth. My woven work is made by twisting dyed reeds between my fingertips hundreds of times over to create hollow structures.
