My current body of hand-formed porcelain speaks directly to my love of the natural world. I carefully hand-form each small clay piece to depict aspects of nature, whether real or abstracted. All the pieces are kiln fired to a high fire temperature. The smokey pieces have also been pit-fired using leaves, sticks, and twigs from my property, to add the depth of color and visual textures to the clay. The smokey and ashy pieces are carefully scrubbed clean and dried before being adhered to the archival backings. My knowledge of composition and feel for the random occurrences in nature develop into the finished framed fine art ceramic wall pieces.
